One of the things I love about being a Richmond wedding photographer is when I get couples who choose the absolute CUTEST downtown venues. Blue Bee Cider is such a unique little venue that is perfect for the contemporary small wedding in the heart of Richmond. Lindsay and Travis are the definition of RVA trendy. Their boho wedding was such a dream. Having a small intimate Richmond wedding in the city really it their personalities perfectly. Blue Bee is named for one of Virginia’s native bees and is in the heart of Scott’s Addition. It was built in 1940 as stables with granite cobblestone that was recycled from Richmond’s streets. How cool?? When I met them, I just knew their wedding was going to be so special. I mean, they were having River City wood fired pizza….so immediately we were soul mates. Plus, they had Pearl’s Cupcakes! Pearl’s is one of my favorite places in Richmond.
So, let’s talk about Lindsay and Travis’s family and friends. I watched them all arrive at the venue before the bride and groom and completely setup the ENTIRE SPACE themselves in under an hour. It was incredible, and so heartwarming to see the love and dedication. Her aunt did the flowers herself, and in Lindsay’s words “I asked her to make me something that looks like you literally just walked into a field and picked up a bunch of wildflowers”. I have to say, she came through. The DJ was Travis’s childhood friend who came all the way from Miami and played the best set I have heard at a wedding.
I will end on this note. THE WICKER CHAIR WAS FIRE, AND L & T WERE SO FIERCE.
