Summer & Ben are two of the most laid back people. Their entire family planned a beautiful backyard wedding in the heart of Charlottesville overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains. They are both athletes and compete in triathlons together. Ben’s vows to Summer said–“I promise to be there with you to cross the finish line forever”. All members of both sides of the family cooked all the food, made the cake, decor, and setup the entire day. Considering their guest list had over 200 people, that was really amazing to me! I loved all the DIY aspects of this day–including the flags in the tent that Summer made from different fabrics she collected on her trips from Morocco and around the world.
They have a beautifully historic old oak tree in their parents backyard where they had beautifully draped chiffon fabric where they planned to have the ceremony. Thunderstorms and a downpour rolled in right before their ceremony, so they ended up getting married under their reception tent instead! It ended up creating the cutest setup, where all guests were sitting at their tables with drinks and got to enjoy the ceremony as Summer and Ben said I Do. The natural color palette of the day tied with navy accents and greenery, and mismatched floral bridesmaids dresses. The groomsmen had matching mismatched floral ties. The bridal party’s bouquets were also a mismatch of wildflowers, and Summer and her girls went and picked them the day before the wedding and made them themselves. The string lights and hanging mason jars with tealights were the perfect touch to her reception. Everything about their day was so relaxed, I truly wish them the best!
