The COVID wedding season has just been a struggle for everyone. Many couples chose to elope instead of waiting to have their wedding–and of course, that means more than usual people eloping in the popular spots in Virginia. When it comes to mountains, of course Skyline Drive is a top choice because of the convenience factor and views that don’t require hiking. On top of that….its fall, which is the most popular elopement mountain season in Virginia…and everyone is working from home or flexible and wanting to get out…so commence the crowds!
Because of this, Emily + Jamel were absolute ROCK STARS in trusting me to give them the best experience for their Skyline Drive elopement. They originally chose The Point overlook at sunset, which is one of the best views in the park. Of course, when we pulled up ahead of time….you couldn’t even park! I know the park well, and I always have a backup plan, because I know visitors in the park fluctuate so frequently and often at popular times you can’t get any privacy. We drove a little farther to 2 amazing lesser known spots I keep in my pocket and frankly it turned out better! We had complete privacy, epic views, beautiful weather, and genuine company. Emily and Jamel were so sincere, fun, always laughing, and just plain happy to be there. Their love radiated, and I wish them all the best.
Shoutout to the maid of honor, she hiked in stilettos. Girl.
